Capilla Peak Observatory,
University of New Mexico


The astronomy and physics department at the University of New Mexico has observatories on campus and on the nearby Manzano Mountains at Capilla Peak. UNM’s research covers the span of astronomical topics, from cosmology to cosmic radiation, and radio astronomy to supernova physics.

UNM’s astronomy is truly world-class, and has collaborated with NM Tech and NMSU as well as the U.S. Air Force at Kirtland.
